Obituary for Ann Campbell Delaney

Ann Campbell Delaney, 100, of Butler, KY, passed away on October 9, 2022, at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler. Born in Pendleton County, KY, on September 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna Mae Bradford Campbell.

On March 31, 1951, she married John Edward Delaney. To that union, seven children were born. John’s career took the young family to several states. In 1961, John and Ann brought their growing family back home to live on the Campbell family farm on Highway 17 in Pendleton County. It was there they put down roots and together modeled and instilled in their children the values that they shared: strong work ethic, importance of being charitable and a “good neighbor, the value of education, and devotion to God. Ann’s beloved husband John preceded her in death on August 12, 1973.

After her discharge in 1946, Ann lived briefly in New York City while completing graduate studies in Urology. Over the course of the next seven decades, Ann continued her work in the healthcare profession including service as community health nurse with the Pendleton County Health Department, as a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital, St. Luke Hospital – Ft. Thomas, St. Luke Care Unit and as a PRN conducting physicals for insurance companies. Ann enjoyed the challenges and novelty in each of these roles and made many lasting acquaintances and friendships over the years.

Ann was a woman of varied interests and talents. She enjoyed cooking and baking, playing bridge and golf, tending to her garden and flowers, especially her violets and roses. Ann was a devoted member and volunteer at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was active in the Pendleton County Homemakers, a former member of the Pendleton County Country Club Board and the Butler Cemetery Board, and a member of the Kincaid Regional Theatre Board.
