Obituary for William H "Billy" Browning

William H. “Billy” Browning (93) of Cold Spring, KY (formerly of Falmouth) passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022. He was born in Falmouth on May 29, 1929, son to the late Herb and Marie Zempter Browning. In addition to his parents Billy is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years Peggy J. Wallace Browning (2019) and two brothers Joseph C. and James V. Browning.

Survivors include his two children Karen Browning and Keith (Shannon Bennett) Browning and several great nieces.

Billy graduated from Morgan High School, Class of 1948 with two basketball honors and a scholarship to Georgetown College. Due to some family issues he had to return home to help on the farm. Billy was a member of the Falmouth United Methodist Church, Methodist Men and past chairman of the church council. He worked for Interstate Brands in Cincinnati for 34 years, after his retirement he became a full-time farmer and raised Black Angus cattle. He served on the City of Falmouth Council. Over the last 20 yrs. he served on the board of Pendleton Co. Farmers Fire Insurance Co. (past President and Director of the Board). He was also a proud Kentucky Colonel and a lifetime member of the American Angus Association. Billy and Peggy enjoyed spending their winters in their lovely home in Florida for may years. He will be missed by his loving family and friends. So many of his friends referred to him as a true Southern Gentleman.

Service will be private at the family’s convenience. Memorials are suggested to Falmouth United Methodist Church 230 W Shelby Street, Falmouth, KY 41040, St. Elizabeth Hospice 483 South Loop Rd., Edgewood, KY 41017 or to a charity of one’s choice.
